Don Hahn’s acrylic and oil on canvas paintings are in the tradition of the great California Pleine Aire painters of the turn of the century. However Don’s interpretation of his subjects are unique. They are representational yet impressionistic. Skillfully composed landscapes, capturing the light and shadows provided by nature and produced with a painterly style of his own. In some of his works one can see influences of the Chicago School of painters in which Don has a personal and academic interest. The unique stylistic result of Don’s painting offers an opportunity for established and new collectors of the California Pleine Aire genre to take a fresh look at the evolution of this painting tradition and add the works by Don Hahn to their collection for years of enjoyment.
M James Fine Art is pleased to announce representation of Don Hahn’s paintings and is planning an inaugural exhibition of his paintings in Beijing, China in March, 05. The exhibition, “California Dreaming”, is organized by Monte James at Beihang University and co-hosted by Beihang University, Beijing Yan Ze, and the China International Exhibition Agency. Other future exhibitions and venues to be announced.
